Tennessee alpaca farms offer the following opportunities to learn about alpacas and their wonderful fleece.
TAA Summer Summit
August 27-29, 2010
Music Road Hotel and Conference Center
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
The Tennessee Alpaca Association invites all interested alpaca people to get together for good talk, quick learnin' and fun times at this two-day event in East Tennessee.
Seminars the first day include:
Estimated Progeny Differences (EPD) - Dr. Shauna Brummett
AOBA Alpaca Fiber Characteristics Study - Ruth Fuqua
Grant Funding - Steve Haber
Taxes - Leanne Butchko, CPA
Marketing and Sales of Fiber - Karl Heinrich
Second day are the Hands-On Workshops:
Fiber Sort and Prep - Lisa Hertan
Spinning - Jennifer Bennett
Felting - Ruth Fuqua
Building a Feeder - Karl Heinrich
Cost is $75 per person for TAA Members, $100 per person for non-members. (Second person from same farm is $40 for TAA Members and $65 for non-members.) Workshops will each have a small additional fee for take-home materials.

National Alpaca Farm Days

The Tennessee Alpaca Association will hold its own special Middle Tennessee event as part of the AOBA sanctioned National Alpaca Farm Days. This event will be held at the Wilson County Fairgrounds in Lebanon, TN on Saturday, September 25th. Public is invited, free of charge. Come meet the alpacas!

Farms all across Tennessee (and the entire nation, too) invite visitors to come and visit alpacas on individual farms to celebrate National Alpaca Farm Days. This is an annual event sponsored by AOBA to help educate the public about alpacas. See alpacas up close and get your hands on their soft, luxurious fleece. Southeastern Animal Fiber Fair

Premier fiber art event features spinners, weavers and fiber artists working with many animal fibers, with a dominant alpaca presence in recent years. Folks come to SAFF from all over the eastern United States. Amazing things are done with fiber here!

Southern Select Alpaca Show

Halter, fleece and spin-off competitions take center stage along with educational classes, a silent auction, herd sire auction and an alpaca product store. FREE to the public. This is your chance to see the prettiest alpacas in the entire Southeast, as everyone brings their very best, hoping to take home blue.
